Obituary of Nancy J. Burns

Latham- Nancy J. Burns, 81, a Latham resident for 40 years and the beloved wife of the late William F. Burns, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Saturday August 23, 2014 at Eddy Memorial where she was currently a resident.
Nancy was born in Troy on April 20, 1933 where she lived the first part of her life. She was the daughter of the late Edward T. and Mildred (Mambert) French Sr. She was a 1951 graduate of Troy High School, where she was a junior varsity cheerleader. Upon graduation, Nancy went to work for the Telephone Company leaving there to work for the NYS Dept. of Labor, retiring in October of 1983.
She married Bill Burns on August 6, 1971 and the two loved to travel, especially to Florida in the winter and Maine in the summer and wherever they vacationed they loved bike riding and sightseeing together. Bill passed away January 11, 2006. Nancy loved eating out and meeting friends. She and Bill had many friends from all over the state and loved keeping in touch with all of them. She was a communicant of Our Lady of Assumption Church in Latham.
Nancy is survived by her sister; Joan (Late Frank) Furciniti of Latham and her brother William (Susan) French of Troy, her aunt Kay Mambert of Troy as well as several nieces and nephews.
She is predeceased by her Brothers, Edward T. French Jr., Thomas D. French, and Richard J. French.
Special thanks to Wayne, Cynthia, Rob, Lauren, Darlene, Lenore, Cheryl, Annett and Vicky for the love and special care they gave to Nancy at the Eddy in Troy.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Monday August 25 from 4-6 pm at the Dufresne & Cavanaugh Funeral Home, 149 Old Loudon Rd., Latham
Her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday August 26 at 10:00 am at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 498 Watervliet-Shaker Road, Latham. Fr. Geoffrey Burke officiating.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Eddy Memory Section, 2256 Burdett Ave, Troy NY 12180
Interment will take place in Evergreen Cemetery, Wynantskill.
