Obituary of William Joseph Luby

Latham- William Joseph Luby, 94 of Latham, beloved husband of Vera Lee Luby for 70 years, passed away on peacefully on Thursday October 2, 2014 at Community Hospice at Eddy Heritage House in Troy where he was currently a resident.
Born May 15, 1920 in Troy, William was the son of the late William F. and Edna (Whitney) Luby.
He proudly served during World War II in the United States Army where he attained the rank of Master Sergeant as well as the Bronze Star.
Bill was an installer and repairman, employed with N.Y Telephone in Albany for 34 years, retiring in 1980. He loved spending time in Maine and especially at the ocean as well as helping his wife Vera with antiques. Bill was a communicant of Our Lady of the Assumption Church in Latham.
In addition to his beloved wife Vera, he is survived by his loving son Keith G. (Cheryl) Luby of Florida as well as his 3 cherished grandchildren: Jamie Rowe, Melissa Franklin and Kristen Friedrich, as well as seven cherished great grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Sunday October 5, 2014 from 1:00-3:00 p.m. at the Dufresne & Cavanaugh Funeral Home, 149 Old Loudon Rd., Latham.
Funeral Services will be celebrated on Monday October 6 at 10:00 a.m. at Dufresne & Cavanaugh Funeral Home. Fr. James Daley officiating.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made in Bill's honor to the Alzheimer's Association of Northeastern NY, 4 Pine West Plaza, Suite 405, Albany NY 12205
Interment will take place with military honors in Memory's Garden, Colonie.
