Obituary of Walter C. Pfeifer

WALTER C. PFEIFER Latham-Walter C. Pfeifer, 89 of Watervliet, beloved husband of the late Alice Frances Payne Pfeifer, entered into eternal life on Saturday, October 4, 2014 at Albany Memorial Hospital. Born in Manhattan February 3, 1925, he was the son of the late Walter and Marie Domgang Pfeifer. In 1942 Walter left high school in his junior year to enter the U.S. Navy during World War II. He spent almost 3 years in the Pacific on a landing craft control ship which was used to direct Marine landing craft onto the beaches. After the war he earned his diploma from Southside High School in Rockville Centre Long Island and attended NYU Business School. Walter commuted into Manhattan for over 40 years and worked as Accountant for many years at Irving Trust and Scudder, Stevens & Clark investment firms both in Manhattan. He retired from KPMG as a vice president in the tax department. His hobbies included reading, attending movies and going to the beach. He loved swimming and bicycling. Survivors include his loving children Edward (Donna) Pfeifer of Latham, Mary (The Late Karl) Cutler of Mattituck , NY and Patricia Pfeifer of Halfmoon, his cherished grandchildren, Thomas Pfeifer, Kathryn Pfeifer, Lieutenant Karl W. Cutler and Grace Pfeifer. Funeral services will be held Thursday October 9, 2014 at 10:00 am in the Dufresne & Cavanaugh Funeral Home, 149 Old Loudon Road, Latham. Relatives and friends are invited to call Wednesday October 8, 2014 from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the Dufresne & Cavanaugh Funeral Home, 149 Old Loudon Road, Latham. Interment will be next to his beloved wife Alice in Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Niskayuna.
