THELMA O. RYAN
Latham- Thelma O. Ryan, 104, formerly of Latham passed away peacefully on Friday May 29, 2015 at the Our Lady of Mercy Life Center in Guilderland.
Born in Cohoes on December 11, 1910, Thelma was the daughter of the late Victor and Elizabeth (McNamara) Newhouse. After fifty seven years of marriage, Thelma had been predeceased by her beloved husband, Thomas W. Ryan on January 18, 1993.
Mrs. Ryan retired from the NYS Department of Taxation and Finance in 1978 after twenty years of service. She was a member of the Altar Rosary Society and the 55'ers at Our Lady of Assumption. She was also a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Colonie Elks #2192, Colonie Senior Citizens, the Red Hat Society and the St. Ambrose's Young at Heart.
She is survived by her son Thomas V. (Denise) Ryan as well as her grandchildren Suzanne (Mark) Klouse, Stephen, Cynthia, David (Debra) Ryan and Kevin (Anna) Ryan. She also leaves behind her great grandchildren, Michele Griffith, Jason Griffith, Samantha Ryan and Emily Ryan along with several nieces and nephews. Thelma had been predeceased by her sister Mildred Newhouse Jewett of Boght Corners in 2005 and her brother William Newhouse of Valatie in 2010.
Relatives and Friends are invited and may call on Sunday May 31, 2015 from 2-5 pm at Dufresne & Cavanaugh Funeral Home, 149 Old Loudon Road, Latham.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday June 1, 2015 at 10:00 am at Our Lady of The Assumption Church, 498 Watervliet-Shaker Road, Latham with Fr. Geoffrey Burke officiating
Interment will take place at Memory's Garden, Colonie.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Thelma's memory to Our Lady of the Assumption Church 498 Watervliet-Shaker Road, Latham.
