Latham- Dorothy L. Dodo Burrell, 84, a longtime resident of Latham, beloved wife of the late John J. Burrell Sr., passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 5, 2007 at Community Hospice Inn at St. Peter's, in Albany.
Born in Albany, on July 14, 1923, and was the daughter of the late George and Anna (Delisle) Hooley. She was the 11th of 12 children. She was married to John J. Burrell Sr. and the two shared a blessed union of 48 years prior to his passing in 1990.
Dorothy was a devout wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, spending numerous hours with her family and friends. She loved to garden and enjoyed her backyard pool. She also loved animals, especially her cat Damian of which she is survived. Dorothy loved to spend her Tuesday mornings enjoying Mass and breakfast with a group of friends. She will be missed greatly by anyone who was graced to enjoy her great personality and lively spirit. She was loved by all who knew her.
She was a member of the Young at Heart at St. Ambrose Church and babysat at the Moms at home also at the church.
Dorothy is survived by her loving daughters; Kathlyn M. (Joseph) DiPaolo of Saratoga Springs and Janet (William) Agresta of Hagaman, NY and her daughter-in-law Dorothy E. Burrell. She cherished in the heart the memory of her son John J. Burrell Jr. who passed away in 1994. She is also survived by 8 cherished grandchildren; Peter Kahn, Tracy Kahn, Jennifer Gardinier, Kerri (Slawek) Figiel, Bryan (Denise) Burrell, Erin Burrell, Kimberly (Arthur) Banewicz & William Agresta and 6 loving great grandchildren; Peter Gardinier, Emma & Jack Burrell, and Samantha, Daniel, Arthur & Elizabeth Banewicz and several nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her sister Geraldine (Walter) Sweet of Colonie, her brother in law Robert Schuyler and sister in law Rita Hooley.
Dorothy is predeceased by her siblings; Ruth Wall, Marjorie Dupree, George, Joseph, John & William Hooley, Catherine Reynolds, Anna Ward, Helen Randall and Jean Schuyler.
Funeral Services will take place on Wednesday at 9:00 am at St. Ambrose Church, 347 Old Loudon Road, Latham where Dorothys Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Fr. Tony Childs
Relatives and friends are invited to call Tuesday at the Dufresne & Cavanaugh Funeral Home 149 Old Loudon Rd. Latham from 4-7 P.M.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made in Dorothys name to the St. Judes Childrens Research Hospital, 501 St. Judes Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to the St. Ambrose Food Pantry.
Interment will take place in Memory's Garden, Colonie.
