GARY R. JOHNSON
Loudonville- Gary R. Johnson, 69 of Loudonville, died Tuesday, April 28, 2009 at Albany Memorial Hospital.
He was the son of the late Anne M. McGrath and the step-son of the late Donald J. Lang, and was predeceased by his infant son Jason Joseph Johnson in 1972.
Gary is survived by his wife of 46 years Charlotte J. Johnson, his daughter Lisette M. Johnson, son-in-law Mark F. Jarocki and beloved granddaughter Isabelle M. Jarocki. He is also survived by his step sisters Mary (Bill) Knipple, June (Bruce) Nichols, Carol (Thomas) Glaz and step brother Donald J. (Dee Dee) Lang.
Born in Weavertown, NY, he was raised in Rennselaer and graduated from Van Rensselaer High School. He served in the US Army for 3 years and later attended New York University.
Gary was retired from IBM Corp. where he was employed for more than 30 years as a Field Engineer. Up until his death he was Vice President in charge of group sales at Bytner Travel in Albany, having been associated with that agency since the 1970's. In addition to spending quality time with his family, Gary enjoyed traveling. Gary & Charlotte had visited many countries over the years and had been on over 50 cruises. Gary was a member of the Colonie Elks Lodge #2192.
The family would like to thank Dr. Rorick Rimash and the caring staff at Memorial Hospital for their kindness and compassion during this difficult time.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the Historic Church of St. Mary's (cor. of Lodge & Pine St) in Albany on Saturday May 2 at 9:00 am.
Interment will be at St. Patrick's Cemetery in Watervliet
Relatives and friends are invited and may call Friday from 4-7 P.M. at Dufresne & Cavanaugh Funeral Home, Ltd., 149 Old Loudon Road, Latham, NY.
