Obituary of Eleanor O. Mitchell

ELEANOR O. MITCHELL Latham - Eleanor O. Mitchell, 84, beloved wife of the late George A. Mitchell Jr., entered into eternal life on Friday, May 1, 2009 at the Van Rensselaer Manor, in North Greenbush. Born and educated in Watertown, she was the daughter of the late William J. and Clara M. Guyea O'Driscoll. She was a graduate of Watertown, High School and the Watertown School of Commerce with a stenographer degree in 1943. Eleanor was in the Human Resource department, employed by Albany County Nursing Home for many years. She was a longtime communicant of St. Ambrose Church where she was an active member of the Altar Rosary Society. Eleanor and her late husband moved to Latham in 1950. Her husband George a. Mitchell Jr. died on March 1, 2006. She loved to knit, cook & garden but received the most joy from spending quality time with her cherished grandchildren. Survivors include her cherished children George A. (Barbara) Mitchell III of Saratoga Springs, Cheryl (James) Romano of Latham, Robert S. (Eileen) Mitchell of Colonie, William S. Mitchell of Latham and Amy (Joseph) Moffre of Clifton Park , her brother Joseph O'Driscoll of Bradenton, FL, she is also survived by her cherished 11grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Eleanor was predeceased by her sister Rosemary Nelson and brothers, William O'Driscoll, Thomas O'Driscoll, Richard O'Driscoll and Paul O'Driscoll. A Mass of Christian Burial for Eleanor will be held Monday May 4, 2009 at 9:00 am at St. Ambrose Church, 347 Old Loudon Road, Latham with Rev. Francis DuBois officiating. There will be no calling hours. Interment will be next to her late husband in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery in Colonie.
