Obituary of Elizabeth "Betty" Scully

ELIZABETH "BETTY" SCULLY Latham- Elizabeth "Betty" Scully, 88, of Latham, passed away peacefully on Tuesday January 19, 2016 at the Albany County Nursing Home. Born in Albany on October 15, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Carl and Hilda (Anderson) Johnson. She was a 1944 graduate of Watervliet High School. Betty married Edward Scully on May 15, 1948 and the two shared a blessed union of 54 years prior to his passing on August 11, 2002. Betty was a Customer Service Representative with the Boston Store in Latham for many years. She was an avid New York Yankee fan. But her true love was her family that she cared for and tended to their needs with the utmost of importance. She also loved to travel with Edward before his passing. She is survived by her loving children: Deborah (Charles) Lindley of Cohoes, Patrice Helferich of Cohoes, Robert (Amy) Scully of Columbia, SC, Timothy Scully of Latham and Erin (Tom) Hoffman of Albany and her 8 cherished grandchildren: Robert (Melissa) Lindley, Heather (Charles) Dawe, Shannon Helferich, Jonathon Helferich, Matthew Scully, Elizabeth Hoffman, Sarah Hoffman and Patrick Hoffman as well as her 4 cherished great grandchildren: Joseph Foy IV, Shelby Dawe, Ava Marie Lindley and Isabella Helferich. Betty is predeceased by her Brother; Eric Johnson. Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Monday January 25, 2016 from 5:00 pm til 7:00 pm at the Dufresne & Cavanaugh Funeral Home, 149 Old Loudon Rd. Latham. Funeral services will be celebrated on Tuesday January 26, at 12;00 noon in the Dufresne & Cavanaugh Funeral Home, 149 Old Loudon Road, Latham In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made in Betty's memory to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation 950 New Loudon Road, Suite 330 Latham, NY 12110 or the Community Hospice 295 Valley View Blvd. Rensselaer, NY 12144.
