Obituary of Jeal "Jerry" E. Sutherland Sr.

JEAL "JERRY" E. SUTHERLAND SR. South Carolina- Jeal "Jerry" E. Sutherland Sr., 70 of Murrells Inlet South Carolina, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 11, 2016 at National Health Care, in Murrells Inlet SC. Born in Buffalo, New York on July 6, 1945; he was the son of the late Edward and Carol (Taylor) Sutherland and was a 1963 graduate of Colonie High School where he played baseball, basketball and ran track. Jerry married the former Jenise Smith on November 5, 1966 and the two shared a blessed union of almost 50 years prior to his passing. He served in the Air Force stationed in Wichita Falls Texas. Jerry was employed at Knolls Atomic Power Lab in Niskayuna as a Technician retiring in 2002. He coached his sons baseball seasons at Colonie Babe Ruth from 1981-1983. Jerry was an avid Elvis fan, loved to karaoke and was a diehard NASCAR fan who loved Richard Petty. He also was an avid motor cyclist. He enjoyed camping as a young man at Rogers Rock in North Lake George. Jerry loved stream fishing, Maine and Sacandaga Lake. After retirement he enjoyed Myrtle Beach and moved to Murrells Inlet with his wife in 2011. In addition to his beloved wife Jenise; he is survived by his loving sons: Joseph (Brenda) Sutherland and Jeal (Rose) Sutherland all of Colonie. His cherished grandchildren: Leah, Corinne, Robert, Stephen, Michael and Thomas as well as his sister Donna (Stan) Egerson of Felton Delaware and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Carl Desmond and George Schubert for their support through this most difficult time. Relatives and friends are invited and may call Saturday April 16, 2016 from 9:00 - 12:00 noon at Dufresne & Cavanaugh Funeral Home, 149 Old Loudon Road, Latham. Funeral services will be celebrated on Saturday at 12:00 noon immediately following the visitation at the funeral home.
