Obituary of Patrick E. Gallagher

PATRICK E. GALLAGHER Latham- Patrick E. Gallagher, 90 of Latham, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 24, 2016 at Albany Memorial Hospital, in Albany with his loving wife Katherine by his side. Born in Ogdensburg, NY on June 20, 1926, he was the son of the late Patrick and Katherine (Cotter) Gallagher. Patrick was educated in Ireland and England and received his bachelor's degree from Russell Sage College in Troy. He was married to the former Katherine Theresa Minihane and the two shared a blessed marriage with love and devotion prior to his passing. Patrick was an Accountant and CPA for the NYS Department of Agriculture & Markets in Albany for over 35 years. After his retirement he was in real estate with Wellbourne & Purdy. He was a member of the Colonie Elks #2192 and a 4th Degree with the Latham-Colonie Knights of Columbus #3394. Patrick enjoyed golf, reading, gardening, walking and his many trips to Ireland, but his greatest love was his family. In addition to his loving wife Katherine, he is survived by his niece: Patricia Norton Formel and numerous grandnieces and grandnephews and two great nieces. He is predeceased by his sister: Margaret Gallagher Norton, brother: Walter Gallagher and nephew: Tom Norton. Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Tuesday June 28, 2016 from 5:00-7:00 pm Our Lady of the Assumption Church 498 Watervliet-Shaker Rd. Latham. Patrick's Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday June 29 at 10:00 am at Our Lady of the Assumption Church with Fr. Geoffrey Burke officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Patrick's memory to Our Lady of the Assumption Church, St. Jude's Children's Hospital or the Franciscan Friars of the Atonement.
