BARBARA L. ERWIN
Colonie- Barbara L. Erwin, 83, of Colonie, beloved wife of the late George E. Erwin Jr., passed away in the loving arms of the Lord and with her loving family by her side on Sunday August 14, 2016.
Born in Albany on January 31, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Marion (Livingston) Latimer.
She was married to George E. Erwin Jr. on October 19, 1957 and the two shared mutual love and devotion of almost 50 years prior to his passing on September 13, 2007.
Barbara was a loving and dedicated homemaker who tended to her family's needs with the utmost of care and concern. She then joined the workforce in 1974 where she worked in several clerical positions with the NYS Labor & Civil Service in Albany eventually retiring in 1997.
Barbara is survived by her loving children: George E. Erwin III of Colonie, Patricia (Shaun) Erwin-Deyo of Colonie and Nancy (James) Buck of Mansfield, MA, as well as her four cherished grandchildren: Katie Deyo, Elizabeth Deyo, Jasmine Swint, Ariana Jacobsen; three cherished great grandchildren: Gabriel, Aiden and Giana, her sister: Patricia (William) King of MD and brother: William (Nita) Latimer of GA, her sister in law Patricia Latimer of Albany as well as former daughter in law: Cynthia Walsh Swint and several nieces and nephews
She is predeceased by her son: James L. Erwin and her brothers: James L. Latimer and Paul Latimer.
A special thank you goes to Robert and Arlene Dawson and the Thursday Afternoon Ladies for their lifelong friendship and to St. Peters Hospice especially Sindu and Mona for their care, compassion and Humor.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Wednesday August 17, 2016 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the Dufresne & Cavanaugh Funeral Home, 149 Old Loudon Rd., Latham.
Funeral services will be celebrated at 7:00 pm at the conclusion of the visitation at the funeral home with Associate Pastor John Phillippe officiating.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made in Barbara's memory to the Alzheimer's Association, 4 Pine West Plaza, Suite 405, Albany NY 12205
Interment will take place next to her beloved husband George in St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands.
