EARL V. SKIFF
Boght Corners- Earl V. Skiff, 90, a resident of Boght Corners for 63 years and beloved husband of the late Arlene E. Skiff, passed away in peace on Thursday, September 15, 2016 at his son's home in Latham.
Born in Greenwich, NY, he was the son of the late Paul E. and Carrie (Olson) Skiff Sr. He was a graduate of Greenwich High School. Earl was married to the former Arlene E. Toomey on June 22, 1947 and the two shared a devoted union of love for 64 years prior to her passing on May 31, 2011.
Earl was employed with New York Telephone in Latham as a mechanic for 28 years retiring in 1984. Earl had a love for cars and enjoyed racing them. He was a member of the Upper Hudson Valley Auto Club, Upstate NY Thunderbird Club and the Adirondack Shelby Mustang Club. He played the organ at Boght Dutch Reformed Church and at Guptill's Arena on the weekends. He was an avid skier and was on the ski patrol at Petersburg Pass, he also enjoyed bowling at Latham Bowl, Bowlers Club and Uncle Sam Lanes. Earl was a communicant of Christ Community Reformed Church and formerly Boght Reformed Church.
Earl is survived by his loving children: Garry (Lori) Skiff of Latham, Elizabeth (Gary) Feulner of Scotia and Gloria (Richard) Murtagh of West Glenville. Four cherished grandchildren: Katie Skiff, Garry (Sara) Skiff Jr., Christine Feulner and Thomas Feulner, adored Great Granddaughter: Magdalyna Skiff as well as his brother: Harold (Joan) G. Skiff of Melrose, he is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Earl is predeceased by his brother: Paul E. Skiff Jr.
Relatives and friends are invited to call Tuesday September 20, 2016 from 10:00 am-1:00 pm at the Dufresne & Cavanaugh Funeral Home, 149 Old Loudon Road, Latham.
Funeral services will be celebrated at 1:00 pm at the funeral home immediately following the visitation with Rev. Johan Bosman officiating.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made in Earl's memory to the Community Hospice Foundation, 310 S. Manning Blvd., Albany, NY 12208.
Interment will take place next to his beloved wife Arlene in Memory Garden's, Colonie.
