Obituary of Dorothy M . King

DOROTHY M . KING Niskayuna- Dorothy M. King passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, October 27, 2016 Dorothy was born in Brooklyn, New York on December 20, 1935 to the late Walter and Edna Miles. She was educated at The Mary Louis Academy in Queens, New York, Hofstra University, and she received her B.S. degree at Excelsior College, as well as her MS degree at the California College for Health Sciences. Not only was Dorothy a United States citizen, but she also held Republic of Ireland citizenship. She was employed as a registered nurse by Bellevue Hospital in Niskayuna for many years, then later as a classroom instructor in nursing for Capital Region BOCES, retiring in 2012. Dorothy was a communicant at St. Kateri Tekakwitha Roman Catholic Church. She was predeceased by her husband, Gilbert A. King, Sr., daughter, Susan Marie, and her brother James, as well as her brother-in-law, Francis King and her sister-in-law, Mary Rita King. She is survived by two sons, Gilbert Jr. (Lorna) of New York City and Edward (Janette) of Niskayuna. She is also survived by five grandchildren whom she dearly loved, Madeleine, Olivia, Emily, Eileen, and James King. She leaves her sister, Mary Jane Miles of Clifton Park, brother Edward (Debbie) Miles of Winthrop, Maine, and former sister-in-law, Kathleen Miles. She is also survived by a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Thursday November 3, 2016 from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the Dufresne & Cavanaugh Funeral Home, 149 Old Loudon Road, Latham. Dorothy's Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday November 4 at 9:00 am at St. Kateri Tekakwitha, 2216 Rosa Road, Schenectady with Fr. Robert Longobucco officiating.
