JOAN M. NOONAN
Latham- Joan M. Noonan, 89 of Latham, beloved wife of 48 years the late James Noonan, passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side on Thursday, February 9, 2017 at Albany Medical Center, in Albany.
Born in Gloversville on September 16, 1927, she was the daughter of the late William E. and Vera Mae (Finkle) Walsh. She attended Syracuse University and graduated from Bryant College in Providence, Rhode Island.
Joan was employed with Manufacturers Hanover Bank in Colonie in Bank Management for many years. At one time she worked at Knolls Atomic Power Lab for several years; it was there that she met her future husband James. Joan also volunteered as an Ambassador at Albany County Airport.
She loved to travel and was a dedicated volunteer at St. Pius, the Albany Institute of Art and Albany Memorial Hospital and in her younger years with the Girl Scouts.
She is survived by her loving children: Mary E. (Richard) Hunter of Clifton Park, Tom (Nancy) Noonan of Averill Park, Maureen (The Late Tom) Maher of Latham, Michael (Karen Barndt) Noonan of Colonie, John (Stephanie) Noonan of Malta and Eileen Shapiro of Bethpage, NY as well as her eight cherished grandchildren: Matt, Laura, Ryan (Michelle), Tommy (Tammy), Erin (Rob), Meaghan, Max and Samantha and four adored great grandchildren: Olive, Scarlett, Robbie and James.
Joan's Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday February 13, 2017 at 10:30 am in St. Pius X Church, 23 Crumitie Road, Loudonville with Fr. James Walsh officiating.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Sunday February 12, 2017 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Dufresne & Cavanaugh Funeral Home, 149 Old Loudon Road, Latham.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the Alzheimer's Association of Northeastern NY, 4 Pine West Plaza, Suite 405, Washington Ave. Ext., Albany NY 12205
Interment will take place next to her beloved husband in St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands.
