Obituary of Harold "Harry" R. Grounds Jr.

HAROLD "HARRY" R. GROUNDS JR. Colonie-Harold "Harry" R. Grounds Jr., 80 of Cohoes, beloved husband of the late Joyce Clare Kennedy Grounds, passed away peacefully in his sleep in the comfort of his home on Tuesday, April 11, 2017. Born in Albany on December 1, 1936, he was the son of the late Harold R. and Lillian E. Norris Grounds. Harry was married to the former Joyce Clare Kennedy his "life partner" on August 1, 1959 and shared 55 beautiful years of love and devotion until her passing on July 12, 2015. Harry was a self employed transmission mechanic in the Capital District for many years until his retirement. He enjoyed hunting, camping and the outdoors. Later in life he enjoyed cooking and playing cards. His greatest joy in his life was his family. Harry is survived by his loving daughters: Charlene (Chuck) M. McFee of Fairport, NY, Michelle (Steve) A. Fallon of Westwood, MA, Five cherished grandchildren: Brittany McFee, Laura McFee, Stephen Fallon, Erin Fallon and Brian Fallon, his brother Louis (Sue) Grounds. He was predeceased by his two sons: Joseph Maxwell Grounds and Darrin Robert Grounds. Funeral services for Harry will be celebrated on Saturday April 15, 2017 at 9:00 a.m. in the Dufresne & Cavanaugh Funeral Home 149 Old Loudon Rd. Latham. Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Friday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will take place next to his beloved wife in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, Colonie.
