JAMES ARTHUR DANTON
Latham- James Arthur Danton, 65, of Latham passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home with his loving family by his side on Friday, September 14, 2018.
Born in Greensboro, NC on October 8, 1952, he was the son of the late Robert and Marcelle (Oliver) Danton. It was on September 10, 1983 that Jim married the love of his life Elizabeth "Liisa" Ericksen and shared a loving and devoted union of 35 years together.
Jim was the Director of Child Care Systems with the NYS Office of Family & Child Services in Albany for many years. Prior to that he was the Director of Data Processing for 20 years with the Town of Colonie. In 2010, Jim was inducted into the Mohonasen Hall of Fame for Basketball. He single handedly scored a record 44 points in one game in 1970 outscoring the opposing team and eventually becoming the Suburban Council scoring champion. He was also proud to be a member of the Town of Colonie 50 and over basketball League for many years. Some of his other passions were skiing, a good game of poker and music, especially 102.7. He was also a member of the Colonie Elks #2192.
Jim was a kindhearted and generous person but first and foremost he was an exceptional family man, a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother. He truly adored his family and they were the center of his life, especially his new grandson and godson Luke.
In addition to his beloved wife Liisa, he is survived by his loving children Matthew (Amy) Danton, Chris Danton and Michelle Danton, his cherished grandson Luke, his Brothers Michael (Sherri) Danton and Robert (Kim) Danton as well as several nieces, nephews, cousin and in-laws.
The family would like to thank Dr. David Shaffer of NYOH for his amazing and compassionate care.
