Obituary of John J. Hulbert
JOHN J. HULBERT
LATHAM - John J. Hulbert, 55 of Latham, passed away on Saturday, January 8, 2022 at St. Peter's Hospital, surrounded by his loving family, after a brief yet courageous battle with Pancreatic Cancer.
Born in Albany on August 1, 1966, he was the son of the late Matthew and Kay (McKay) Hulbert.
John attended Christian Brothers Academy graduating in 1985. He then went on to attend his beloved Villanova University, Class of 1989. If you knew John, you know there is no need to elaborate on his love for Villanova!
John worked many years as a general contractor. He was employed for the last sixteen years by the NYS Office of General Services as a construction manager. John was talented at what he did and his love for working with his hands shined through in all his projects, both personal and professional.
John will forever be remembered for his love of spontaneous adventures - like hiking, skiing, dancing, and traveling. He especially enjoyed being behind the wheel of his boat, challenging whoever dared to ride on the tube in tow while he and others looked on with glee. John was all about encouraging others to dig deep when the going got tough.
John was at his happiest when he was surrounded by those he loved and when he was assisting others. From building his family home to changing a flat tire, no matter how big or small the ask, he could always be counted on to lend a helping hand. John's selfless ways were demonstrated right up until his passing, thanking and apologizing to anyone and everyone who was there to aid him during his brief illness. His family meant the world to him, especially his children, who will continue to carry out their Dad's legacy of strength, courage, and compassion for others. He will be forever missed and eternally cherished by all who knew and loved him.
John is survived by his life's pride and joy, his four children: Joshua, Sean, Alyssa, and Jessyca; the love of his life Ann Fraser Sisk, his dear brothers Matthew (Jan), Mark (Yvonne), and Luke (Maureen), his beloved canine companion Nova, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
