Please share a memory of Joyce to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
JOYCE Y. MARLOWE Latham On the evening of Sunday February 10, 2008 the angels took Joyce from this world. She passed after a long courageous battle against breast cancer at the Samaritan Hospital in Troy under the care of a tremendous staff of doctors and nurses who attended to her every need. Born on August 16, 1950 in a small town of Churubusco on the Canadian border in Upstate, NY, she lived most of her life in Massena, NY attending catholic schools, and attended Canton ATC in Canton, NY. Joyce worked for the United States Department of Transportation at both the St. Lawrence Seaway and in Washington DC. Her finest career accomplishment was for the 32 years she served as a Service Representative for the Federal Social Security Administration in Ogdensburg, NY. In 2003 she received the Commissioners Citation in recognition for her outstanding work. Joyce is the daughter of the late Elmer LaClair and Eva LaClair Taillon of Mexico, NY. She is survived by her devoted husband Ted, her high school sweetheart and best friend; they were married for 34 years and had a wonderful life together. After residing in Ogdensburg, NY for most of her life, she and her husband moved to the Latham area to be near their two loving children; son Justin and his wife Bridget and grandson Aiden of East Greenbush NY, and daughter Jill Marlowe and her companion James Osgood of Niskayuna, NY. One of the greatest joys of her life was being able to spend the last year enjoying her grandson. Survivors also include her mother, a brother, Robert LaClair and his wife Rita of Denver, PA., sister Margaret LaClair OShaughnessy and her husband Terry of Mexico, NY as well as numerous nephews, nieces cousins and their children. Throughout the years she made many wonderful friends, at school, work, and especially at the complex where she resided over the last year. It seemed that anyone who got to know her, could not help but love and admire her for her tremendous strength and courage. Joyce has touched so many hearts over the course of her life; she will be sadly missed by everyone. In keeping with her wishes there will be no calling hours. Funeral services will be held on Friday February 15, 2008 at 9:00 am at St. Ambrose Church, 347 Old Loudon Road, Latham NY. A celebration of Joyces life will be held immediately following her mass at the McCormick Center at the same address. In lieu of flowers, her family encourages the planting of a tree where you can view it or making donation in her name for the care of animals at your local SPCA. Arrangements are under the direction of Dufresne & Cavanaugh Funeral Home 149 Old Loudon Rd., Latham.
